Bespoke handmade reclaimed timber kitchen island with downdraft hob

This island in reclaimed douglas fir has such a lot of character, created by the timbers which still had the original saw and planer marks - these we left and just carefully finshed and sanded.

The island was unusual in having 8 large drawers which went down to floor level, creating an interesting visual effect as well as maximising storage. The boards were carefully 'planked' so the grain followed around the island.
